The goals of AVERAGE Arts Initiative are to facilitate the use of vacant units for short term arts events. We create opportunities for artists to show work in dynamic new environments, offering support with materials for installation and curation, along with negotiating minimal one euro rent agreements with estate agents, and extending public liability coverage through the Galway City Arts Office, leaving the artists free to focus on their professional practice.

This initiative is an opportunity to turn the negative vacancy of a recession environment into a positive creative platform for the visual arts and the community. It returns life to depressed areas and brings the arts outside of traditional exhibition environments, attracting new audiences and a new response from the viewer, and is also good for the developer, who benefits from a clean and professional looking space with positive activity and publicity.
